Virtual Show to be Announced Later in the Year

Over the last few months, the National Hardware Show (NHS) closely monitored the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on members of the global hardware and home improvement community. Originally slated to open its doors in May, the show was postponed to September. Considering the continued impact of COVID-19 on customers and industry, NHS has announced the decision to cancel the 2020 event. Instead of an in-person experience, NHS plans to host a virtual trade show dedicated to providing education and support that recognizes and addresses the direct and essential needs of the hardware industry, later in the year.

As an experienced salesperson, O’Brien has spent the last 12 years specializing in selling hygiene tools, including Hillbrush lines, to food manufacturers, wineries and breweries throughout North America. FEIBP: July Update on European Brushware Industry

The FEIBP recently released a new report on the impact of COVID-19 on the European brushware industry that says the situation remains “vulnerable” on the continent as there is increasing movement of people and transport as governments lift measures.

The report says, “The virus is absolutely not under control, see the disastrous records of infestations in the Americas, but look at Portugal where the lockdown regime for certain regions is re-installed. Leicester (UK) is another warning sign.”

With those concerns in mind, the report says it remains necessary for industry businesses to keep on advocating for brushware products are to be recognized as essential in certain supply chains, both on national and international levels.

June PMI Numbers Move Into Growth Territory

The Institute for Supply Management® reported a US PMI of 52.6 percent for June which represents the first month back to growth territory since the COVID-19 shutdowns. In fact, the figure eclipsed a strong pre-COVID January number of 50.9 and is the highest month for US manufacturing since April of 2019. The promising June performance rolled out to other countries as well, with China continuing to progress as the Caixin Manufacturing index reported a 51.2 number. The Euro Zone, Germany and Italy also showed improvement, but all remained in contraction territory under the 50 percent mark.
