Braun Brush Company Celebrates 150-Year Anniversary
Braun Brush Company has marked 150 years of continuous operation in craftsmanship and innovation, a rare milestone in American manufacturing.
Founded in 1875 by Emanuel Braun on Palmetto Street in Brooklyn, the family business began as a small workshop and has grown into a dual-facility manufacturer serving over 25 industries. Today, Braun Brush Company operates from Albertson, New York, and Medford, Oregon, crafting brushes for everything from food processing and pharmaceuticals to aerospace, automotive detailing, and the arts.
According to a company statement, its success over the past 150 years comes “not only from the brushes we make, but from the people who make them.” Under the leadership of fourth-generation Braun Brush President Lance Cheney and fifth-generation COO Max Cheney, the company said, “Our team continues to blend traditional craftsmanship with advanced CNC precision, CAD design, and a problem-solving spirit that has guided Braun Brush since 1875.”
“We are proud to have pioneered the world’s first metal-free fused tube brush, and our craftsmanship has even reached outer space through our collaboration with Honeybee Robotics on NASA’s Mars rovers. As we celebrate this milestone, we also honor the artisans who make it all possible. Our diverse and dedicated team, more than half of whom are women, exemplifies what ‘Made in America’ truly means.”
