Following four days of bustling activity, the EISENWARENMESSE – International Hardware Fair concluded its 2024 edition on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Held in Cologne, Germany, from March 3- 6, marked a triumphant return to its traditional March timeframe after a special edition in the autumn of 2022. Renowned as the premier global platform for the hardware industry, the fair drew over 3,200 exhibitors from 54 countries, showcasing the latest trends and innovations across various sectors including tools and accessories, industrial supply, fixing and fastening technology, building supplies, and home improvement.
Despite challenges such as public transport strikes, the fair attracted an impressive turnout, with 38,000 trade visitors from 133 countries attending the event in Cologne. Notably, over 90 percent of exhibitors hailed from abroad, underscoring the event’s international prominence and appeal.

Reflecting on the significance of the fair for the specialized trade, Thomas Dammann, Chief Executive Director of the Central Association of the Hardware Trade e.V. (ZHH), emphasized its role as a comprehensive platform for industry insights, networking and partnership development. Dammann noted the fair’s potential for further growth, both internationally and within Europe.
Stefan Horst, Chief Operating Officer of the German Tool Manufacturers Association, lauded the fair as a global showcase for the tool industry, emphasizing its role in shaping the industry’s future through innovation and collaboration.
The 2024 edition of the EISENWARENMESSE – International Hardware Fair served as a barometer for industry trends, with a notable focus on sustainability, multifunctionality and digitalization. Manufacturers showcased innovations ranging from renewable energy solutions to multifunctional tools and digital-enabled products.
The fair also hosted the prestigious EISENaward 2024, recognizing outstanding products in the industry. Among the winners were C. & E. FEIN’s VersaMAG, Pronova Dichtstoffe’s innovative cardboard cartridge, and HAZET’s torque screwdrivers.

DIY Boulevard: Innovations by the Meter
In collaboration with the German Association of Home & Garden Manufacturers e.V. (HHG), the EISENWARENMESSE – International Hardware Fair presented the popular DIY Boulevard again this year. With 58 participating companies and measuring 255 meters in length, the presentation area was fully booked long before the start of the event. Manufacturers had the opportunity to present their products on-site in a “point-of-sale” style environment to offer the trade audience a chance to experience an authentic presentation of products.
New Schedule for 2026
In 2026, EISENWARENMESSE will be held March 3-6, at the fair grounds of Koelnmesse again. The new exhibition dates reflect a change in schedule. Instead of running from Sunday to Wednesday, in the future, the trade fair will be held from Tuesday until Friday.
