Koelnmesse GmbH announced today that it will extend the contract with Oliver Frese, which runs until the end of 2024, by a further five years until December 31, 2029. Frese has been Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Koelnmesse since 2020.

“In recent years, Oliver Frese has not only led the Cologne event portfolio through the difficult phase of the corona pandemic, but has also equipped the market-related areas of sales, services and marketing communication with a new operating model,” says Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse. Together with the International division, he has also successfully implemented global portfolio responsibility in trade fair management in recent years. “I would like to thank Oliver Frese for his very successful work and am convinced that Koelnmesse will continue on its growth path with him.”

“Strengthening the trade fair business at the Cologne location is an important priority for Koelnmesse,” says Henriette Reker, Mayor of the City of Cologne and Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Koelnmesse. “That’s why I’m delighted that Oliver Frese will continue to play a key role in shaping the fortunes of the Koelnmesse Group as Managing Director, and I look forward to a continued successful collaboration.”

After Oliver Frese held management positions at Deutsche Telekom and the energy group EnBW, among others, and served on the board of Deutsche Messe AG for several years, Koelnmesse GmbH appointed the qualified social scientist to the management board in 2020.

“At the top of my agenda for the coming years is to develop and expand highly attractive trade fair formats and concepts for the Cologne location,” says Oliver Frese. “The aim is for Koelnmesse events to not only remain an indispensable date in the business calendar of the currently more than 50,000 exhibiting companies, but also to become the ‘place to be’ for new exhibitors and partners.”
