Peter Giannetti Joins IHA

The International Housewares Association announced today that Peter Giannetti will join the organization as director, editorial, content and education. In this role, Giannetti will oversee the development and delivery of industry-wide content and resources intended to inform, educate and inspire.

Giannetti joins IHA after serving for 14 years as editor-in-chief and 14 years before that as editor of HomeWorld Business, a leading print and digital B2B publication for the home and housewares business. He has covered the home and housewares industry since joining HomeWorld Business in 1990. Giannetti also served as vice president /publishing and editorial operations for ICD Publications, parent of HomeWorld Business and its sister publication, Gourmet Insider. Gourmet Insider ceased operations at the end of 2020, and HomeWorld Business recently announced it is closing operations at the end of February.

Housewares Industry Rises to Challenges of Pandemic Year

Focus on supply chain management, a truly omni-channel marketplace and changing consumer wants/needs (for now)

If there was one universal lesson from 2020, it was the importance of being adaptable. This was, after all, the year when a pandemic quickly took over the world – complete with retail and manufacturing shutdowns, combined with unprecedented demand for housewares and home goods. As housewares executives reflect on the past year and outline their goals for 2021, there’s consensus that even the best-laid plans need to be ready to change.

2021 Letter From IHA’s Derek Miller

Without question, 2020 will be remembered as an unprecedented year that brought both challenges and opportunities. The pandemic forced people out of public spaces and into their homes, which certainly took some getting used to. But this challenge quickly presented an opportunity for our industry, with consumer spending on housewares products increasing dramatically.

COVID-19 caused the cancellation of The Inspired Home Show in 2020 and the postponement of the 2021 show from March to August. IHA reacted by recreating the physical displays and events into digital versions to continue to provide industry education and connections. These efforts will pay further dividends in the future as IHA’s digital services are expanded.
