Hidden Workers: Uncovering Untapped Talent

The Ohio Manufacturers Association is hosting a Hidden Workers: Uncovering Untapped Talent webinar on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Are you struggling to find talent? Manufacturers may be surprised to learn that there are an estimated 27 million “hidden workers” in the U.S., according to a recent report by Harvard Business School and Accenture.

Hidden workers are those who are unemployed or underemployed and who are eager to get a job or increase their working hours but are consistently overlooked by employers. Hidden workers are diverse, but might include caregivers, people with disabilities, refugees, immigrants, veterans or those previously incarcerated. Participants will learn how to engage potential workers from untapped sources.

Topics we’ll cover include:

  • The business case for hiring unemployed and underemployed
  • Recruiting recommendations, including hiring practices, job postings and onboarding to attract qualified hidden workers.
  • Leveraging your company’s existing community partnerships to develop a long-term talent pipeline and reduce barriers to engaging hidden workers.

Who should attend?

  • Manufacturers interested in developing a pipeline of skilled workers
  • Members of industry sector partnerships
  • Workforce and education professionals
  • Economic development professionals

Registration fee

  • OMA Members: $19
