IHA Collaborates with Wayfair on Virtual Product Discovery Event

Connect WAYFAIR to offer IHA members opportunities to pitch retailer’s buyers

The International Housewares Association is collaborating with online retailer Wayfair to create Connect WAYFAIR, a virtual event bringing together IHA suppliers with Wayfair buyers. Scheduled for November 11, 2021, the event will provide an opportunity for IHA members not currently selling to Wayfair to pitch their new products to the rapidly growing, online home retailer, which has 31 million active customers, $14 billion in net revenue and more than 22 million live products on its website. The deadline to sign up is October 22, 2021.

“Wayfair is dedicated to its customer base and its ever-growing supplier partners, and continuously seeks out opportunities to increase its assortment of products,” says Derek Miller, IHA president. “We are pleased to be able to offer our members this opportunity to expand their retailer customer base and connect with Wayfair.”

Busch Promoted to VP at Nexstep Commercial Products

Nexstep Commercial Products, Exclusive Licensee of O-Cedar, is pleased to announce that Erin E. Busch has been promoted to vice president sales and marketing. Busch joined the company in 2010 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. She has held various sales and marketing positions at Nexstep; most recently she was the national director of sales and Marketing.

US Manufacturing Pushes Up in September

India and China also register upward PMI figures for the month

The global trend is relentlessly familiar as supply chain issues continue to plague manufacturers while demand remains strong. For September, progress diverged as European countries saw lower PMI readings, while the US, China and India registered improvement. For China and India, the positive readings were welcome as both have endured long downward trends with China’s slide dating back to November 2020.

ABMA Emerging Leaders Look to Discover Strengths

The ABMA Emerging Leaders group held a “Back to School” Zoom meeting on September 16, 2021, with eight members participating. From the prior meeting in June, the Emerging Leaders (EL) group asked all members to read “Discover Your CliftonStrengths” and then proceed to take the CliftonStrengths™ test to identify which five strengths were the most dominant in our personalities. The strengths test was a way for EL members to get more in tune with their strongest personality traits and assets with the hope of being able to build upon those strengths in order to progress on career goals.

IHA’s Derek Miller: The Inspired Home Show 2022

The Inspired Home Show opens on March 5, 2022, with the halls once again filled with new products and innovations. It will be the opportunity for the home + housewares community to come together for product discovery and networking, two activities sorely missed over the past 18 months.

With five months before opening, space sales for The Inspired Home Show are currently at 82% of space sold for the pre-pandemic 2020 Show numbers and include more than 240 new exhibitors. Exhibitors are enthusiastic about getting back to business as is the retail community. Retailers across the country and around the world tell us that digital product discovery is challenging at best and finding new and innovative products is extremely difficult – they see the Show as the most efficient and effective method and best opportunity to explore and engage with the industry.
