Zinc Die Casting: History of Deco

Deco Products is the largest stand-alone zinc die casting company in the US. Deco was established in 1960 by the Lake Center Switch Company, which was primarily an automotive supplier of dimmer switches and other electronics for automotive. The die casting operations were moved to Decorah, Iowa, which is where they produced die castings, assemblies, and a line of hose clamps.

PelRay’s David McGee Retires After 35 years

The PelRay International Company has announced that sales manager David McGee will retire at the end of the month after 35 years with the company. He was recruited by Ray LeBlanc in 1986, and became the branch manager of Amex International’s warehouse located in Laredo, Texas. When Amex’s Laredo operations were relocated to San Antonio in 2007, McGee continued to work in sales and logistics for Amex alongside LeBlanc and Bart Pelton.

ABMA Emerging Leaders: First Happy Hour

The ABMA Emerging Leaders group hosted its inaugural happy hour on June 15, 2021. The group had a vibrant event punctuated by an entertaining storytime kickoff that eventually transitioned to a discussion on workplace demographics and other future educational topics for the group.

ABMA Emerging Leaders President Kevin White says, “The hour went by so fast and it was really awesome to see everyone jump right in and have a deep and serious discussion about workplace demographics. It was apparent that everyone in the group is committed to their organizations and the overall health of the industry, so to approach the issue from the ‘How Can We Help’ side of the equation was so refreshing.”

ABMA Announces Dave Parr Retirement Plan

ABMA President Greg Miller announced on Tuesday the retirement and recruitment strategy to replace David Parr with a new ABMA Executive Director in 2022. Miller says, “Dave Parr has been ABMA Executive Director since 2002 and had told the ABMA board at that time he would serve for 20 years, retiring in 2022. I can speak for the Board when I say we are sorry to be at the event horizon for this change; and while we are sad to see Dave go after an accomplished tenure with ABMA, we are all working to find an outstanding leader who can continue ABMA on its long and storied trajectory.”
